Swine flu (H1N1 flu) Causes & Symptoms 

Swine Flu Definition :-

Swine Flu also called Swine influenza, pig influenza, hog flu and pig flu is a respiratory disease caused by several types of swine influenza viruses. Swine flu (swine influenza) is a disease of pigs.

Approximately 1% to 4% of pigs that get swine flu die from it. It is spread among pigs by direct and indirect contact, aerosols, and from pigs that are infected but do not have symptoms. In many parts of the world pigs are vaccinated against swine flu.

People with regular exposure to pigs are at increased risk of swine flu infection.

The swine flu is caused by a strain of influenza virus that usually only infects pigs. Unlike typhus, which can be transmitted by lice or ticks, the main transmission is not from pigs to people, but rather from person to person.

Swine flu is spread when a person with the flu coughs, sneezes, or talks and droplets containing their germs land in your mouth or nose. You can also get the flu by touching a surface or object that has the flu virus on it and then touching your mouth, eyes, or nose.

Who is at risk of Swine Flu?

⇒ Person Working or living near the pig farms are greater risk of swine flu.

⇒ Seniors (those age 65 and older) have higher danger of Swine Flu

⇒ Children (especially those younger than 2) are more prone to Swine Flu.

⇒ Pregnant women have higher risk of Swine Influenza or Swine flu

⇒ People of any age with certain medical conditions, such as heart or lung disease (asthma, COPD, emphysema), diabetes or those with weakened immune systems also at a great risk of swine influenza.
